Happy New Year to all!
To start off 2013, we are bringing you our first newsletter GenKi. Please give us your feedback! Enjoy the holidays and may be Year of Snake be a good year ahead! (If you have not received it by email, please let us know so we can include your email in future updates). In October, we introduced our new product, Organic Tempeh. This traditional Indonesian food is high in protein and in vitamin B12. With a texture more chewy (as compared to tofu), it is usually marinated then pan-fried. Serve on its own or as burger patties!
We also had new stockists. 1. Fresh food market Farro Fresh - fresh food markets deserve fresh organic products like ours, so visit your local Farro Fresh store today! 2. IE Produce, New Zealand’s first Bio-Gro Certified organic fresh retailer, located in Takapuna has also started stocking our products. For those living in the north, we hope this will mean our products are nearer to you now. On 27 October, we will be at the event Taste of Japan, held at the Auckland Museum. See next post. Meanwhile, if you haven't already done so, 'like' us on facebook so you will get the updates This month, we have been delivering to west Auckland. If you live in the west, and would like delivery, please drop us an email at [email protected].
A new product is coming. Make your guess on our facebook page. We were at Auckland's popular foodie event, The Food Show. It was great meeting other artisan food makers, and discovering the many premium products out there. The event also made clear the tofu situation in Auckland currently: one group is extremely excited about organic tofu, knowing all the benefits that come from the soybean; another group is clueless as to what exactly is tofu and who more prefer their cheese and milk. So give yourself a pat, if you belong to the first group! If you belong to the second group, never mind, so long as you are keen to find out, we are more keen to tell you about the tofu which has been around for thousands of years.
Two new products were exhibited at the food show: - The Vege Tofu is organic firm tofu, with fresh carrot juice and spirulina added. This gives two natural shades of orange and green, adding colour to the dish, as well as extra nutrition! - The Tofu Misozuke is a traditional Japanese delicacy which dates back to at least the 18th century. Our organic firm tofu is steeped in miso, then aged for months. The lengthy curing process results in an intense-flavoured and creamy product which can be enjoyed on its own. It is a vegan’s answer to cheese; it is also a cheese lover’s newfound friend. Both products have received consumer interest. This month, we feel motivated by several people who have given encouraging words and commending us on making delicious organic tofu in this country long linked with meat and milk. We will continue in our strive to make the most tasty organic tofu in NZ. Calling to those living in Glendowie!
Spencer's at 7 Roberta Avenue stocks our organic tofu range! We have put the product Pandan Organic Soymilk back on our product list in response to consumer requests.
There is a new flavour for Nugget King! Seaweed - more unami! It is very busy now as we prepare for the upcoming event in August. We are going to the Food Show! We came up with a new product, Vegetarian G Slices. It was made with the thought of a vegetarian version of the popular (non-vegetarian) white sliced chicken. The non-vegetarian dish is rather popular in southeast Asia. Any food stall selling chicken rice would have it.
This new product, made from textured wheat protein, is very nutritious and rather filling. We are quite sure many Asian vegetarians would like it. We are not too sure about the non-asians though. We shall see... 1. We started selling our savoury Curry Puffs.
Take them out of the freezer, defrost, and toast up a bit = a quick and filling meal! 2. Many people have been asking about the marinade we use for the Marinated Organic Tofu. So we have decided that our supporters deserve to have more of the marinade and we started packaging the sauce into glass jars. We have termed it (currently) as Vege Tofu Sauce. Small as the jar may seem, a little of it will give a lot of flavour to your dishes. Ask for it in your next order. 3. We made several new friends at the Vegan Potluck where we were introduced to a variety of vegan dishes which we would never had the chance to try previously.
